These morning habits can make you or break you. In this article we will discuss healthy habits that you should practice once you wake up in the morning. Here are some of the things you shouldn’t do once you wake up.

  1. Checking the phone

Most of the people remain glued to their phones. If you have a habit of checking your phone, first thing in the morning, then you should avoid it. Social media is a distraction. Most people use social media to self-sabotage  their daily life. Instead of focusing on their own lives, people tend to focus on others.

They might check on what’s happening in the life of your favourite celebrity. Some people also reach their phones to check out the news. However, it is better to keep your phone’s out of your reach in the morning. So that you don’t absorb unhealthy patterns from social media.

  1. Hitting the snooze button

Instead of waking up at the first sound of alarm, most people hit the snooze button. People try to get more sleep in the mornings. This behaviour is unhealthy. As this might make them arrive late for their work. You might go behind schedule. Also when you try to sleep again, your body enters another cycle. Thus you will be unable to complete this cycle. This will make you lose your focus during your daily tasks. So it is better if you wake up early in the morning.

  1. Skipping Breakfast 

Most people skip their first morning meal. This is not a healthy habit. As breakfast helps you kick-start your day. Missing breakfast in the morning might lead you to overeat on your next meal. You will not be able to have energy for your daily tasks. Thus, you should always have your breakfast.

  1. Taking in too much carbs

Eating too many carbs might only provide you energy for a limited amount of time. As a result, your blood sugar might go low and you might get tired again. So it is better to take more protein in your diet and avoid carbs at all costs.

  1. Not setting up your bed

You should set up your bed once you wake up in the morning. This should be the first thing to do in the morning. Although this seems like a small task. However, this will make you feel like you have accomplished your first task in the day.

  1. Leaving the curtains closed

You should get natural sunlight first thing in the morning. This will make your body release cortisol which will keep you active throughout the day. Staying in darkness isn’t healthy as this might make you sleep a little bit more.

  1. Bathing In Hot Water

Most people take showers with hot water. This is not a healthy practice. As the hot water makes your body relaxed it also makes you sleep more. So it is better to take showers with cold water.
